    Fan belt, belt pulley and cable to battery.

    The alternator takes mechanical power from the crankshaft, transmits it via a fan belt into electrical current which is fed into the battery.

    I’ll assume you know what the alternator does and why you need it and that you are asking about repair components and not what types of creature comforts you could power in your car.

    The alternator will be driven with a belt system so you may need to buy a new belt or in the case where you are adding an additional alternator you may need to modify the existing belt configuration.

    There is also your volt reader and sometimes a solenoid switch to enable/disable battery charging for auxiliary systems.

    the alternator is an independent item just needs a belt to drive it
