Can i run my car accessories off a 120vac line when the cars off?
December 16th, 2009
I have a nice stereo and i want to be able to turn my car off and run the stereo for a long time. The battery dies after about 30 minutes so i wanted a way to plug the car accessory into a household outlet. The car draws about 960watts. Thats 60amps on a 12Vdc. Some ideas i had were… 1: plug the 120Vac into the alternator that then converts the alternating current into direct current. 2: put a computer power supply in my car that has a 60amp 12Vdc rail. 3: Buy a very expensive (i cant actually afford it) 12Vdc power supply. 4: use a jump start system that can be plugged into the house outlet and the car at the same time. (would that draw the power off the house?)

I am a government employee. I had a car towed for violation of CVC 22669, abandoned vehicle. I saw a part of the car I wanted to buy. 30 days has passed, no one has claimed the car, and all the legal requirements have been met. The car is going to be junked by the towing company. Can I legally purchase the car part? And how about ethically? I didn’t tow it because I wanted the part, I towed it because it’s my job, I saw the part, and if no one claimed it, it would be sold or junked otherwise.

Invoice price listed in either KBB/Edmunds? Or did you pay less than invoice? (is it even possible to haggle the price below invoice on an Acura??)
