I worked for a part supplier for some time, we were under constant pressure from the OEM s to use off shore suppliers for things like bolts and to shift work to China or Eastern Europe where labour is cheaper. So if I bought a “made in America” car how much of the parts not just the assembly come from the USA?

I am a government employee. I had a car towed for violation of CVC 22669, abandoned vehicle. I saw a part of the car I wanted to buy. 30 days has passed, no one has claimed the car, and all the legal requirements have been met. The car is going to be junked by the towing company. Can I legally purchase the car part? And how about ethically? I didn’t tow it because I wanted the part, I towed it because it’s my job, I saw the part, and if no one claimed it, it would be sold or junked otherwise.

I am planning on buying a used BMW 318i automatic (the shape from mid 1999). I have seen a lot of cheap ones but with high mileage (100k +). I just wondered how many more miles before the autogear box packs up or needs serious attention. Thanks.

I want to buy a 1997 BMW 318i but I am a home mechanic and have no trouble working on my Ford’s or GM’s. I am wondering what the difference is and if i could work on my own BMW. I don’t want to do any major motor work just the basics. Example: Starter, Oil changes, Alternator, Tune up. What are some of the differences or obsticals i can come to expect. Is it an easy transition?

I’m thinking about buying a new Audi A4 and take advantage of the ‘pick it up at the factory in Germany’ deal. How will it take from the time I place my order until it’s ready?

There’s been a lot of talk from alfa romeo about returning to the us market, using the maserati/ferrari dealer network. As an alfa fan I hope they are successful, but considering that they are still struggling in many parts of europe I wonder whether they are competitive enough yet for the us market. So crucially, would you buy one over a german rival/ cadillac/jaguar etc(presuming the pricing is similar to these rivals)
Wow C asked:
And how much will it cost? Should I buy this or the Cadillac CTS-V?
you’re so stupid i didnt ask when alfa comes to the us, i asked when the 159 gta comes out!!!!
I am looking at either buying a used Cadillac CTS with no more than 39k miles on it. The prices are in my range about 16-25k depending on what kind of deal the dealer made originally. I figure a cadi will be reliable and I can get a warranty extended. I would probably put down 4k. But I also am looking at possible leasing one of the new Acura TL, or the Infiniti g37. Does anyone have any good advice? Asked by: Beauty&Brains
