How exactly does the BMW Steptronic work?

I am looking into the new 2008 BMW 135i. But I’m a little confused with the steptronic transmission. With the steptronic transmission option, is the car at all like a manual car (i.e clutch, manual shifting without using the steering wheel)? My friend had a 2003 BMW 330Li that was an automatic, but had the Tiptronic so he COULD shift manually if he wanted to. Is the new BMW 135i going to be an automatic first, manual second? I want a standard manual car with the OPTION to use the steering wheel to shift (without the clutch), but I want it to be a manual car First. And what is the difference between Tiptronic and Steptronic? Thanks.

Im 19 looking to buy a car and im looking at the 1992-1998 generation of the bmw 3 series but there are so many i was just wondering the differences 
The tire pressure indicator on my 2006 BMW 325i is on. The tire pressure is good, but I can’t figure out how to turn off the indicator. The manual says there is a button to push, but I don’t see that button. Is there another way of doing it myself? 
My question is not only about the 650 model, i want to know the difference between a BMW with an ” i ” in its model name and the BMW without the ” i ” 
My belts popped on my car this weekend. The belts are now completely off but it is hard to put them back on. Does anyone have a diagram on how to put them back on? By the way when the belt popped my battery light came on, the car started to overheat and the steering became tough. Is that normal when that happens on a BMW? Please help!!!!! The tensioner was loosen to try and apply the new belts. 
I would assume theyre already good quality bc they are speakers that came installed in a BMW, but I do not know anything about speakers or sound quality. Of course i can always get better quality speakers, but would it be worth it if I spent $150-$200 to replace them? 
I have a BMW 325i which is pre-wired for cell phone attachment. Not sure how to connect my GSM cell phone. Any help will be appreciated. 
Why does the 2008 BMW M3 use a sliding caliper for the brakes instead of a fixed caliper like most costly vehicles. IE Brembos. Is it for cost or utlilty? 
I was trying to check the engine level of my BMW but couldn’t open the cover. I tried pulling up, twisting then pulling up, and then finally tried to pull up harder. Not one of them worked!
